City Council / County Board of Supervisors Resolution to Investigate Impacts of Project 2025

A resolution of the City Council / County Board of Supervisors of [NAME] directing the City / County to investigate and report on potential risks and threats to city / county services and public welfare should the Federal government implement “Project 2025,” a proposal of the Heritage Foundation.

WHEREAS, Project 2025 is a sweeping 900-page proposal of the Heritage Foundation that would dramatically alter Federal government laws, policies, and appropriations if implemented, and 

WHEREAS, the City Council / County Board of Supervisors of [NAME] has a responsibility to investigate, evaluate, prepare for, and make recommendations with regards to  federal decisions that could dramatically impact local government services and the welfare of our communities, and

WHEREAS, Project 2025, if implemented, could have significant impacts on a wide range of local services and negatively affect many sectors of our community, including families, senior citizens, working adults, parents, women, people of color, immigrants and immigrant families, LGBTQIA+ people, and adolescents and young children, 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL / COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF [NAME], AS FOLLOWS:

  1. The City / County of [Name] expresses grave concern regarding the potential impacts of Project 2025, if implemented, on city services and local communities,
  2. The City / County of [Name] establishes a Project 2025 Emergency Task Force, whose members shall be Council members / Supervisors [NAMES] and all city / county department heads or their appointed proxies,
  3. The City Council / County Board of Supervisors directs the staff of the city / county government to immediately research, analyze, and document the specific threats posed by Project 2025 to city services and public welfare, and to regularly report on its progress to the Project 2025 Emergency Task Force, 
  4. The City Council / County Board of Supervisors directs the city government to hold open consultations with community groups and key stakeholders in preparing its analysis,
  5. This analysis must be presented to the city council within 45 days and is a top priority for the city.
